An often overlooked area for walking in the Lakes

An often overlooked area for walking in the Lakes:

Loweswater Circuit

Nestled in a wooded valley, this tranquil circular lake walk is often overlooked but it is a wonderful walk in wonderful surroundings.

Location: Loweswater

Parking: There is a car park at the easterly end of the lake.
If it’s raining, take the car.

Windermere to Ullswater via Kirkstone Pass (17.1 miles)

This is not for the faint-hearted, as the route tackles the highest mountain pass in the Lakes, the mighty Kirkstone Pass, also known as ‘The Struggle.’ This scenic journey is a great way to reach the eastern part of the Lakes while avoiding the busier, less exciting A66. As such, it is popular with cyclists and motorcyclists.

A great pub to try
